MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
About 2,000 security officers in the Twin Cities are taking part in a one-day strike at the Wells Fargo Center in downtown Minneapolis Wednesday. The officers are members of the Service Employees International Union Local 26.
After 14 hours of negotiation through the night, a deal resulted for those who work with subcontractor American Security, and those workers will not take part in the strike. The contractors who did not reach a deal are G4S, AlliedBarton, Securitas, Viking Security, ABM Security and Whelan.
The strike's mission is to protect and strengthen the middle class through a fair contract for thousands of workers, the SEIU release said.
