After months of practice, FOX 9's Heidi Collins earned a perfect score from the judges at Dancing with the Twin Cities Celebrities, raising thousands of dollars for the troops in the process.
Collins and her professional partner Alex Chamberlain, with Arthur Murray Dance Studios, danced the Argentinian tango, earning three 10s from the panel of judges.
Each local celebrity in the competition was raising money for a charity, and audience members could purchase ballots for $5 to vote for the dancer and contribute to their charity. Collins was raising funds for her non-profit, Tee it Up for the Troops, which raises money for veterans.
In addition to winning Best Dancer, Collins also won a trophy for raising the most money at the event -- sending $3,800 to the charity from ballots cast alone. In total, Collins estimated she was able to donate about $25,000 to Tee it Up for the Troops via the event.
The runner-up donated about $18,000 to the charity of their choice as well.
