Hitting on deck this season for Cubs' Castro

MESA, Ariz. (AP) - The Chicago Cubs are convinced Starlin Castro can hit. They showed that much when they signed their All-Star shortstop to a 7-year, $60-million extension last summer.

The big question left for the 23-year-old Castro to answer as he enters his fourth season in the major leagues is whether he can cut down on his league-leading error totals and headline-making mental lapses in the field.

Manager Dale Sveum (swaym) says he has challenged Castro to win a Gold Glove. It would be a big step for Castro, who has led the National League in errors each of the past two seasons.
