Kam's Corner: Goldfish Swim School - KMSP-TV

For children who would like to learn how to swim in a kid-friendly environment, parents check out Goldfish Swim School. The swim school offers small class sizes, swim parties, retail goggles, towels, swimsuits and more. The water is 90 degrees and 4-feet deep.

"We recommend to start as young as possible, we accept kids as young as four months old, but our target market really is at one year to about four years old," said Chris McCuiston, Goldfish Swim School instructor. The swim school also offers open swim during the week, free for those in the program. Anyone not in the program can get in for $5 per person and no more than $15 per family.

"The biggest opportunity we have is because of our pools, they're designed for children. Swim lessons are the primary focus of what we do, family swim is a big hit, it allows kids to come in and practice the skills they learned throughout the week," said McCuiston. Swimming with the family during non-instructional hours helps children get the energy out and work on skills learned during the week.

Goldfish Swim School has opportunities for more advance kids, like the high school swim team. Water aerobics and therapy during open swim time are among the other things program members can participate in. The swim school is a great, tropical place to take kids to in the cold winter months.
