MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

A clerk at the Marathon gas station in the Lyn-Lake are of Minneapolis rescued a man from a burning pickup truck Wednesday morning.

The fire happened a little after 7 a.m. at the gas station on the corner of 28th Street and Lyndale Avenue.

"I saw the gentlemen pumping gas at Pump 7, and then I saw his car started to catch on fire," said Fayez Ayoub, the clerk who had just opened the gas station for the morning. "I ran out to try to get him away from the pumps."

Ayoub said while the driver rolled his car away from the gas pumps, he called 911 and ran back inside to grab his fire extinguisher.

After getting the fire put out, Ayoub realized the man was still inside the truck, which had another fire burning in the front cab. He pulled the driver out of the truck and ran back into the store to get a second fire extinguisher. By then, firefighters had arrived and finished the job.
