Explosion, fire at Spring Lake Park townhome

Fire officials in Spring Lake Park, Minn. are trying to figure out what caused a townhome to go up in flames overnight.

Neighbors reported hearing an explosion at the home on Crown Oaks Drive around 11 p.m. Sunday night. Soon after, the house was engulfed in flames.

The couple inside escaped safely.

The fire chief says there is extensive damage inside the home, but neighboring units only had exterior damage.

Officials aren't sure what caused the fire, or the explosion, saying it could have been a car tire popping.
