Snowmobiler dies after falling in St. Croix River

One man has been pronounced dead after falling through the ice on the St. Croix River while snowmobiling.

At about noon on Saturday, the Washington County Communication Center received a call to respond to the St. Croix River in reference to a snowmobiler in the water.

Emergency Police and Fire Departments in the area responded to the scene and located a 22-year-old adult male in the water. He was transported by ambulance to Regions Hospital, where he later died.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiners Office and the Washington County Sheriff's Office are conducting the investigation.
