Police in Lower Providence Township are searching for a man who they say wears a dark uniform and uses a blue dashboard mounted light to impersonate an officer.

A Lower Providence Township woman was pulled over by the man, police say, around 9 p.m. Tuesday night.

According to investigators, the woman pulled over after she saw a car behind her with a blue flashing light.

Police say the man approached the woman's car and talked to her.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 50s with short brown hair. Police say he was last seen wearing a dark uniform with some type of patch on the sleeve. The man did not have a badge, police said.

Police say vehicles equipped with blue lights are not authorized to make traffic stops in Pennsylvania. Police vehicles in Pennsylvania, both marked and unmarked, are equipped with a combination of red and blue emergency lights.

If you think you are being pulled over by a vehicle that you believe may not be a police officer, you may call 911, Lower Providence police said.

If you have any information, you're asked to call the Lower Providence Township Police Department at 610-539-5901.
