In the shadows of Detroit's skyline, Michigan State Police work to find a killer. It was around 3:40 in the morning, when a Michigan Department of Transportation courtesy van driver spotted a white SUV on the side of the freeway at I-75 near Mack Ave. He stopped to see if anyone needed help, but found a crime scene instead.

"When he went to check on the driver he noticed driver slumped over the wheel," said MSP Lt. Michael Shaw.

The person behind the wheel of the GMC Yukon was 32-year-old Jennifer Scavone from Sterling Heights. Investigators are working to find out who murdered her and why. Northbound I-75 near Mack was shut down to traffic for hours while police went about the business of scouring the roadway for any and all evidence.

We're told there are traffic cameras in the area but it won't help police in this investigation because those camera's don't record what they capture. Michigan State Police would like to hear from anyone with information. Call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAKUP 1-800-773-2587
