Packers cheerleader bullied by Bears fans on Facebook
GREEN BAY, Wis. (KMSP) -
A former Green Bay Packers cheerleader from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is shocked by hurtful comments directed at a photo of her on a Chicago Bears fan Facebook page.
On Monday, a picture of her was posted on with the caption, "Like if you agree the Packers have the worst cheerleaders in the NFL."
"I was a little taken a back," Collins told FOX 11 Green Bay. "I couldn't believe that some of those words were said and the way they were said."
Collins, who cheered for the Packers in 2009, contacted Facebook with a request to have the post removed.
"But we all received the same message that it was not bullying under their community standards," Collins said.
Collins took matters into her own hands, addressing her Facebook bullies in a YouTube video.
"My hope is that people will, if nothing else, take a second thought before typing those cruel words or saying cruel words to somebody," Collins said.
As the YouTube video spread, more Facebook users joined her campaign to have the post removed. On Thursday afternoon, a "Chicago Bears Fan" page administrator removed the post and wrote, "the issue has been resolved and to please respect one another and do not bully on this page."
