An Eagan, Minn. man is charged with terroristic threats, accused of throwing a knife toward a neighbor who was listening to radio analysis of a Gophers basketball game he recorded.
According to the criminal complaint, 32-year-old Daniel Drobac recorded the Minnesota vs Michigan basketball game on Jan. 17. The next day, he was watching the recorded game while his neighbor was outside listening to KFAN sports radio near her parked van.
The victim said she was working on her utility box when Drobac yelled, "I'm not kidding, I'm going to f------ shoot you." The victim called 911 and stayed inside of a tent setup around her utility box until police arrived.
Drobac told police he was watching the Gophers basketball game when he heard the victim's radio. He was upset because they were talking about the outcome of the game while he was watching the recording.
Officers found a large kitchen knife in the snow, about 10 feet from the victim's tent. Drobac denied throwing the knife, but admitted to owning a set of knives that matched the one found in the snow.
Drobac admitted to yelling out of his window but said he believed he just told the person to turn the radio off.
