Former Gov. David Paterson has fond memories of the late Mayor Ed Koch. Paterson spoke with GDNY on Monday about Koch's passing.

"I met him when I was in college and he was running for office. He was very kind to me. The first day of Koch's administration -Jan. 1, 1978- he issued an executive order banning the discrimination gay and lesbian workers in the city work place. He was never afraid to do what he thought was right," said Paterson.

Koch died on Friday at the age of 88.
