Animal rights activists stripped down to support their cause Friday in Scottsdale.
A group of PETA protesters gathered Friday afternoon outside a clothing store called "Evans Furs and Leathers," near Scottsdale and Greenway Hayden Loop.
They asked people for "compassion over fashion." They claim animals are abused, tortured and killed in violent ways to make fur coats.
"Fur has fallen out of fashion and fur is definitely considered a faux pas right now. There's still a few people or a minority of people that do support the fur and I think they're the ones that are not educated about what happens on fur farms to these animals," said protester Lisa Karczewski.
Activists say fur is beautiful -- but only on an animal.
The clothing store says fur coats are biodegradable and recyclable because they're natural.
"I think that the biggest misconception is the mistreatment, and the fact that people believe that they're mistreated and abused, you know and that type of thing. And I think that that's a farce and fallacy because it would be of no good to us again," said Michelle Parkhurst, general manager of Evans Furs & Leathers.
