If the dizzying array of new household gadgets coming in 2013 is any barometer, the economy is cooking.
"You can feel it, things are improving," said Perry Reynolds, an executive with the International Housewares Association, which represents inventors and manufacturers.
The IHA hosted a preview of new goods in Manhattan recently. Many products won't be available for a couple months, but Reynolds said this year's wide selection points to positive days ahead.
"We're beginning to feel the end of the tighter times," he said.
Among the standout innovations at this year's exhibition:
YOLK HERO
It's the miracle of suction. What looks like the top of a turkey baster almost magically separates the yolk from the white.
"I'm squeezing it, creating a vacuum and I'm just going to suck it up," said Talisman Designs president Katherine Waymire as she demonstrated the Yolk Hero.
