112 flu deaths in Minnesota through January

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 36 more flu-related deaths in the state last week, raising the total to 112 deaths in Minnesota this flu season.

The statistics from the fourth week of flu season show the spread of influenza has been slowing, with fewer outbreaks reported in schools and long-term care facilities. 36 schools reported outbreaks during the past week, and eight long-term care facilities.

135 people were hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed influenza last week, Jan. 20 through Jan. 26. Since the start of the flu season, 2,367 patients have been hospitalized with the flu in Minnesota.
