DETROIT (AP) -- Authorities say a 35-year-old woman has died in a crash that closed part of the Southfield Freeway.
Michigan State Police Lt. Michael Shaw said in a release Wednesday that the Detroit woman was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The accident happened about 3:45 a.m.
Police say the woman driving north on the Southfield Freeway lost control of her 1993 Saturn and struck a guard rail. The driver of a minivan struck the woman's vehicle.
The freeway's northbound lanes between Six Mile and Seven Mile roads reopened after investigators spent several hours working on the scene. They say alcohol might have been a factor in the crash and the woman wasn't wearing a seat belt.
Her name wasn't being released until family members have been notified.
