St. Paul Winter Carnival sled dog races canceled

The St. Paul Winter Carnival Sled Dog Races, previously rescheduled for Feb. 2-3, have been canceled.

"Despite the new snow, there is still an insufficient amount to prepare an adequate and safe trail," said Sally O'Sullivan Bair, of the North Star Sled Dog Club board of directors.

Organizers were holding out for more snow to hold the races, but reached their deadline for a final decision.

The sled dog races were absent from the annual Winter Carnival since the early 1990s, then were rescheduled and canceled in 2012.
