TAMPA (FOX 13) -
A Gasparilla reveler apparently took the whole "pirate invasion" thing a bit too far Saturday. Deputies say a shirtless, beaded man smashed his way into a downtown courthouse Saturday evening.
According to deputies, it was around 7:30 when an unidentified white male in his 20's forcibly entered the Courthouse Annex on E. Twiggs Street by smashing a glass door. Moments later, security officers spotted him in the adjacent Edgecomb Courthouse.
Security escorted him from the building, but the man fled before officers or paramedics could arrive.
He appeared to be intoxicated, investigators said.
The sheriff's office released several surveillance images that show the break-in. They're hoping anyone with information will call them at 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
