A family is left homeless after a house fire Sunday morning in Gwinnett County.
Gwinnett County firefighters responded to a home in the 700 block of Inland Way in Lilburn just after 8 a.m. Sunday. Crews arrived to find the home fully involved with flames shooting through the roof.
Firefighters searched the home and were able to rescue a trapped dog before having to evacuate due to the intense heat. Shortly after, fire officials say the roof partially collapsed.
It took fire crews about a half hour to finally knock down the fire. No one was injured.
Fire investigators believe the fire started in the area of the front porch and quickly spread. They say the home is a total loss. They credit the home's smoke detectors in getting the family out safely.
