SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -- The military lifts its policy banning women from the front lines of combat.
"They're fighting and they're dying together... and the time has come for our policies to recognize that reality," said Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta.
While some don't think it's a good idea, others say women have already been a large part of military operations for years.
"Physically I think it will be really hard. Women aren't built the same way as men," Marine Corps poolee Jericha Faulkner told WANE-TV in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
"I threw hand grenades and set claymore mines and fired my M-16, so I was ready for it and that was in the early eighties," said U.S. Army veteran Monica Whitman.
Joining Huel Perkins and Charlie Langton on our panel to discuss are former Assistant Secretary of Defense Dr. Lawrence Korb, Army Reserve Colonel Rocky Raczkowski and local business leader Nasser Beydoun.
Plus, Charlie Langton goes on the road and asks people at the auto show for their thoughts.
