CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
A lot of people are looking for jobs these days, but guess what? The employers do not have all the power.
Many people we found heading home from work Thursday afternoon are likely looking to leave work for good. They're on the hunt for new jobs.
A survey by CareerBuilder found 25% of workers plan to change jobs in the next two years, which worries employers. 39% of them said they're concerned about losing their most talented employees this year.
So, what can be done to get workers to stay in their jobs? The survey examined that and there's no surprise at the top of the list: 70% of workers said higher pay would boost retention. 58% said better on-the-job perks or benefits would help, 51% wanted schedules that are more flexible, and 50% wanted more recognition--things like awards, cash prizes, or company trips.
The survey gets interesting when you look closer at the specific perks people said would keep them from switching jobs. 41% of workers people wanted was half-day Fridays, 20% said they want an on-site fitness center, and 18% said they want to be able to wear jeans to work.
The one thing most workers say does not make them more loyal to their current employer is a fancy job title.
