Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Gov. Nathan Deal proclaimed the week of Feb. 4 as "Severe Weather Awareness Week" in Georgia.

The goal is to encourage everyone to be more aware of severe weather safety measures and to participate in events that week.

The state has launched a website called "Ready Georgia" to help people understand the importance of emergency preparedness and provide tools to be prepared for a weather emergency.
