Man charged in murder of NJ teen

Authorities arrested a man charged in the killing of a 16-year-old girl in her New Jersey home on January 17. 

41-year-old Cruz Martinez, Jr. is being held on $10 million cash only bail in Pennsylvania and is being charged with the murder of Alishia Colon who was found shot to death in Kearny.  

Martinez, Jr. of Hazelton, PA, was arrested on an unrelated warrant before being charged. He was charged with murder in the first degree, and unlawful possession of a firearm in violation and possession of firearm for an unlawful purpose in the second degree. 

On Thursday, Kearny police were called to the second floor house on Belgrove Drive at 6:20 p.m. where officers found Colon in her bedroom with a gunshot wound to her head.

Authorities have not given a possible motive for the shooting.
