NYU Langone Medical Center reopens

Posted: Updated:

By DR. MARC SIEGEL | Fox News

NYU Langone Medical Center, a huge hospital right next to the East River, was nearly destroyed by Superstorm Sandy.

The hospital suffered extensive damage. As the storm raged, hospital staff relocated more than 300 patients down stairwells, with limited power.

The hospital's main campus was completely shut down for nearly two months. This week there is new life in the halls of the hospital as labor and delivery reopened and, while the ER is still under construction, the urgent care center is open just in time for flu season.

Doctors say the center can handle any medical case that walks through the door.
