Grayslake teachers may strike Wednesday

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Negotiators in Grayslake Elementary District 46 sat down with their union counterparts Tuesday to try to avert a teacher's strike, which could affect 4,000 students and 325 teachers in seven schools.

If no deal is worked out, the teacher's union has authorized a walk-out that would start as early as Wednesday. Officials say that schools will still be open even if there is a strike, but there just won't be any formal teaching.

Negotiations continued late into Tuesday night after a town hall meeting at 7 o'clock in Grayslake.

Proposed pay raises are the main sticking point.
