"If you have symptoms of the flu, you should probably stay home," said Dr. Thomas Farley.

The NYC Health Commissioner visited Good Day NY on Monday as the flu epidemic rages on.

He urged New Yorkers to get their influenza vaccine.

To prevent the spread of the virus, Dr. Farley recommended the following:

cover your cough

wash your hands often

contact your doctor or pharmacy for the flu shot - despite reports of a shortage, Dr. Farley says you can find the vaccine in New York City. "Call around," said Dr. Farley.
