Accused cop killer Jamie Hood pleaded not guilty on Friday to a 70-count indictment, including charges for the murder of an Athens Clarke County police officer and wounding of another officer back in 2011.
Hood also wanted to fire another legal defense team. Hood also said that his attorney was a drug user.
Hood's defense attorney told FOX 5's Doug Evans that he planned to file paperwork to be removed from the case. That would be the second defense team removed from the case.
The judge denied a motion by Hood to be appointed co-counsel because in Georgia, a defendant can't represent himself and have a lawyer.
In his statement, Hood claimed that the prosecutor and police officers are corrupt. He told the judge that's why he did what he did.
Authorities say that Hood shot and killed Athens-Clarke County Senior Police Officer Elmer "Buddy" Christian and injured another officer in March 2011.
