A man with a gun sexually assaulted a woman who was sitting in her car outside her Near South Side home Wednesday night, then used her keys to break into her home and rob a man inside.
The suspect approached the 56-year-old victim, who was sitting in her vehicle in the 1400 block of South Clark Street about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and demanded at gunpoint that she open the door, police said.
The armed attacker then sexually assaulted her, then used her keys to enter her home, where he demanded money from a 54-year-old man at gunpoint, police said.
The woman was taken to a hospital, according to police, but her condition was not known.
Residents are concerned the man is still out there.
"It's terrifying, to be honest," says Monika Kozyra. "For me, a girl who would be walking. It's, you know, doesn't make me feel safer at all."
"It seems like almost every neighborhood in Chicago is getting either attacked, sexual or otherwise," says Manisha Patel, a South Loop Resident. "You can run down on lakeshore drive and it happens in Lincoln Park, now here. I wish they would stop it, I don't know how they're going to do it? I don't know if they need more police on the street, or maybe more lighting, something to help increase security."
The attacker is described as a 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 black man with a medium complexion between 30 and 33 years old, police said. He weights 165-185 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
He was wearing a black and red trim ski cap and a dark sweatshirt, police said.
