FEMA Representatives Offer Help At Home Improvement Stores

Posted: Updated:

FEMA representatives were on hand at several South Jersey Home Depots answering questions of Hurricane Sandy survivors looking to rebuild.

FOX 29's Dave Kinchen met up with one resident eager to get back into her home.

"It's a lot, I mean you're homeless.  This whole thing has upset him and me.  We just want to go back home."

Kate Karins home is currently being ripped up by contractors trying to fix damage caused by Hurricane Sandy's brutal flood water.  Karin is like scores of others waiting for FEMA money to cover the cost of rebuilding, but feels like it's all caught up in red tape.

"People in Washington.  They don't care.  They're not going through what we're going through," Karin said.

Karin says her biggest obstacle will be raising her home flood level since she cares for her handicapped brother.   The Government will require residents to raise their flood level before receiving any assistance.

FEMA representatives will be available at the following Home Improvement stores until Saturday, Jan. 12 from 8:00am to 6:00pm:
