Former Minnesota Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards will return to the boxing ring on Friday January 25th in Hinckley. Edwards won his 2011 debut in a unanimous decision over TJ Gibson. Edwards opponent will be named later.
"Ray's excited to be back in the ring and we're ready to fight anyone they put in front of us," said Edwards' trainer and manager Jeff Warner. "Ray has improved his skills tremendously since his last fight and we're looking forward to showing the boxing world just how much over the next few months. Last time we were in there we got our feet wet. This time we're coming for the knockout."
Edwards signed a free agent contract with the Atlanta Falcons after leaving the Vikings in 2011 and was released on November 12th. Judges saw the fight 40-34; 40-34; and 39-35.
