24 hours in front of the biggest game since 2009and I can't wait. I am flanked in the FOX 9 offices by a Bears fan to my left, and a News Director Packer fan to my right. Both predicted the Vikings to finishlast in the NFC North and both were extremely wrong.
The Bears fan told me today they were going to flood Soldier Field and make itinto an ice rink. I responded "what about the playoff ga… never mind." I lovebeing able to rub it in and can't wait until later this month when my familygets together for our Christmas celebration and I can see my Bears fan sisterin law.
I don't hate many things in my life. Liver and Spam are near the top of mylist, but the Packers are absolutely the number one thing I can't stand. Everythingabout them bugs me. Their ugly fish poop colored uniforms, the stupid ‘G' onthe side of their helmets. Seriously, does any other team that has a city withtwo words only use one? They labeled themselves title-town and good for them, they have won plenty of big games. To quote the late great Herb Brooks "notthis game, not tonight."
I am nervous for tomorrow night for obvious reasons. I know the cheese is goingto spread five wide receivers and throw the rock all over Lambeau. I also knowthat if we can spring the upset, that we can win anywhere and a year after winningthree games we could have a shot at THE game. Certainly I am not counting mychickens or as Eric Cullen would say "jinxing" my favorite team. Trust me, Ihave had these feelings before, this isn't my first rodeo. My heart along withother diehard fans has been ripped out and stomped on before. This year feelsdifferent. Partially because according to them, the team I root for wasn't evensupposed to be here. That's okay it's what I have come to expect from 39 yearsof Viking vs. Packers rivalry.
The team who wins the game tomorrow will be the one who starts faster. It maysound simple, but in the playoff losses at Lambeau, the Pack have fallen behinda combined 49-0. Jump out early and let the doubts begin to creep in.
Blair Walsh got us here and will punch our ticket to the NFC's final four witha 42 yard field goal at the gun.
