KEEGO HARBOR, Mich. (WJBK) -- It was a wild evening for a local family after a car went all the way through their house Thursday in Keego Harbor.

A driver screaming out of control hit a snowbank and did a Dukes of Hazzard style jump.  His car blew through the front of the home and exited the rear and didn't stop until hitting a tree.

"I just [saw] the car flying through here and it just went into the house," said neighbor Suzanne Lossia.

The driver, a 60-year-old man from Keego Harbor, told police he simply blacked out while driving on Cass Lake Front Road.  He was shaken up, but not injured.

Amazingly, three adult family members in the home at a table just four feet from the car's path received only minor injuries.

"We had a lot of residents that heard a loud noise, a bang, and thought that a home had exploded.  They saw a hole in the front of the home.  On our arrival, we found that a car had launched itself actually through... the home," said West Bloomfield Fire Chief Jay Wiseman.

The driver's explanation to police?

"According to the driver, he remembers driving down the road and for whatever reason appeared to black out and the car was accelerating and that was the last thing he remembered," said Officer Jim Cote with Keego Harbor Police.

A city building inspector declared the house condemned.  It's a total loss.

The three family members who were inside the home say they're lucky to be alive.

"Very lucky.  Three adults in the home narrowly escaped with just minor injuries," Cote said.  "It's my understanding the residents were all on the main floor actually cooking dinner when the car came crashing through."
