Here are some tips on how you can save in 2013 from SmartSource:

Make saving a family occasion – Make it a family event to sit down with a stack of coupons and plan meals for the upcoming week.  This is a great way to spend time as a family as well as teach children about budgeting and math.

Dine In – Having dinner and drinks out on the town can put a major dent in your bank account.  Instead of going out, round-up a group of friends and family for a night at least once a month.  A homemade meal is always a treat and won't break the bank.

Pack your lunch and bring coffee from home – Those deli sandwiches and pricey mochachinos can really add up.  Bringing your lunch to work and skipping a trip to the coffee shop just three days a week can save a small fortune.

Make a grocery list and stick to it – Without the proper planning, walking up and down the aisles of the grocery store can lead to unnecessary purchases.  Before going to the store, put items on a list and don't stray from the things you know you need.  This will help keep both your waistline and wallet in shape.

Forget your coupons? – If you forget your coupons at home, many stores will allow you to redeem them during your next shopping trip – just remember to keep your receipt and paper clip it to your coupons.

Do your sale recon –Before running errands, find out which stores in your area are offering discounts on products you are looking for and what seasonal or staple items are discounted.

Explore online and digital saving options – So much information is available online and through social media. Money saving opportunities are no exception.  SmartSource.com's direct to card coupons and the SmartSource Xpress iPad app are great ways to find savings.  Shoppers can also follow favorite brands and coupon distributors, like SmartSource, on Facebook and Twitter for discounts on the brands you use most.
