The death of a 36-year-old man at an Eagan, Minn. apartment building is being called suspicious and police are investigating it as a homicide.
Eagan police and paramedics were called to the apartment building at 4589 Slater Road at 11:56 p.m. Tuesday. The caller, a 28-year-old man, told the dispatcher he had been fighting with the victim earlier and the victim was now unresponsive.
Responding officers noted injuries to the victim's face. Paramedics and firefighters tried to save the victim's life, but he couldn't be revived. The Hennepin County medical examiner's office will be conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The caller and two others present during the altercation were detained for questioning. Investigators believe alcohol was involved and the two witnesses provided preliminary breath samples indicating blood alcohol concentrations of .195 and .205.
A subsequent investigation revealed the caller and victim had been roommates at the apartment since June 2012. The last contact Eagan police had at the apartment was in June 2012 for a noise complaint.
The caller has a previous arrest for misdemeanor assault and was booked into the Dakota County Jail in connection with Tuesday's death investigation.
