INVER GROVE HEIGHTS – Shortly after midnight two victims were shot in Inver Grove Heights.
At 12:59 a.m. on January 1, 2013 the Inver Grove Heights Police Department responded to a 911 call at the intersection of Hwy 52 and 70th St. E. The caller was in a vehicle and one of the occupants had been shot.
Officers arrived to find an adult female with a gunshot wound to her hand. She was transported to the hospital by paramedics.
At 1:00 a.m. Inver Grove Heights Police responded to another call of a shooting in a residence in the 3000 block of Upper 76th St. E.
Police found an adult male with several gunshot wounds, and the suspect of both shootings. The victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Police arrested and took Michael Jamar Griffis, 35, of Inver Grove Heights, into custody at the Dakota County Jail.
Based on investigation, it appears both victims were shot at the residence in the 3000 block of Upper 76th St. E. and that this was not a random act, the victims were known to the suspect.
Inver Grove Heights Police Department are continuing to investigate this crime.
