Train hits, kills person in Marietta

MARIETTA, Ga. -

A train hit and killed someone walking on railroad tracks in Marietta on Monday.

Investigators say the incident happened just before 6 p.m. between Whitlock Avenue and Polk Street.

Officers say the CSX train hit the person from behind.

Medics rushed the victim to Kennestone Hospital, but the person did not survive.

Traffic was diverted for a few hours while police investigated.
