The No. 9 Gophers continued their strong start the season with a 76-63 win in the Big 10 opener against Michigan State. Andre Hollins led the way for the Gophers with 22 points and six assists while Rodney Williams added 15 points in the win.
After leading much of the way, the Gophers went cold from the field and the Spartans took the lead that spread to as many as five. With a little more than nine minutes remaining, the Gophers went on a 22-4 run to erase the deficit and pull away.
Guard Keith Appling led the way in scoring for the Spartans with 15 points.
The Gophers return home Sunday night at Wililams Arena to face Northwestern with a 6pm tip.
