Woman dies, 3 hurt when car plunges into water

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A woman died and three people were injured when their car lost control, overturned and plunged into the shallow water in Jamaica Bay early Sunday morning.

Police say 25-year-old Dominique Jamison of Far Rockaway, was killed in the accident.

Authorities say the Ford vehicle was headed southbound on Brookville Boulevard around 4:30 a.m. when it lost control and overturned into frigid, four-foot deep water off the Boulevard.

Jamison was taken to Jamaica Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

According to the New York Post the driver, 32-year-old Denise Finley of Far Rockaway, who was among the injured and was taken into custody under the suspicion that she was driving drunk.

Reports say that police are looking for two other passengers who were inside the car and fled the scene before officers arrived.

The three survivors were taken to Jamaica Hospital. Six firefighters were taken to Long Island Jewish and treated for hypothermia and other injuries, according to the FDNY.

Finley was charged with DWI, Unlicensed Operator.
