SPCO management, musicians to resume talks

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -

The management of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra plans to resume contract negotiations with its locked-out musicians next week.

In a joint statement Thursday, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra Society and the Twin Cities musicians union said they've agreed to meet next Wednesday and Thursday.

The two sides say they will meet with a federal mediator. Both sides said they will not disclose publicly what is said in the meetings.

SPCO musicians were locked out Oct. 21 after they declined to approve a contract proposal. The two sides then met several times but bargaining broke off in early November.

A spokesman for locked-out musicians at the Minnesota Orchestra told the Star Tribune in an email Thursday that management and musicians would meet on Jan. 2.
