VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) - Small planes have been grounded at a south Georgia regional airport after a car crashed through a fence, plowed through two hangars and hit the wings of a parked aircraft.
The Valdosta Daily Times Thursday (http://bit.ly/RkrIVZ ) reported that 24-year-old Brandon Cowart ran into a ditch near Madison Highway around 11:45 p.m. Monday. Authorities say Cowart then careened through the Valdosta Regional Airport before coming to a rest in an office building.
Cowart told police he fell asleep at the wheel and did not remember anything after the initial impact. Authorities say pieces of the 2010 Honda Accord Cowart was driving were strewn along the path he took from the road through the airport.
Police charged Cowart with failure to maintain lane. He was not seriously injured.
