St. Paul police arrested Dakota County district judge Michael Vann Sovis on Christmas Eve after he allegedly drove into three parked cars.
When police arrived to the 1200 block of St. Clair Avenue, they found a sport-utility vehicle on a snow bank. Police say the driver, identified as Sovis, showed signs of impairment.
FOX 9 tipsters took video that shows the Lexus ram into the other cars, even attempt to flee the scene at about 7:30 p.m.
"I heard that bang and I looked out -- and that's when I [saw] him trying to make that U-turn in the road here and I heard a bang, bang again," said Darrel Danielson. "I said, 'Holy smokes! This guy is really crazy.'"
Danielson said he called 911 once he saw the SUV crash into a snow bank and get stuck.
"He couldn't get away once he got in there," he said. "He pushed the trunk all the way into the back seat almost. That's how hard this guy hit this thing."
Officials say Sovis blew a .28 and was booked into Ramsey County jail on suspicion of third-degree driving while impaired, a gross misdemeanor. He was released from jail on Christmas Day after posting $12,000 bond, according to jail records.
FOX 9 News attempted to contact Sovis for this story, but could only reach his attorney, David Ayers. According to Ayers, Sovis is taking these charges very seriously and plans to be in court in January.
