A volunteer firefighter in Toombs county lost his home in a fire over the weekend while he and his wife were delivering toys to needy families.
WTOC-TV reports Dent and Suzanne Brantley returned home Saturday to find firefighters, including Dent's father Wayne - the fire chief - responding to the fire that gutted their house.
The official cause of the fire was unclear, but the Brantleys told the television station they believe the blaze started with the home's gas furnace.
Friends, neighbors and the American Red Cross have been providing assistance to the Brantleys since the fire.
Vidalia is about 90 miles west of Savannah.
