BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (KMSP) -
With Christmas just days away, the rush will be on this weekend as people try to get their last minute Christmas shopping done.
But nationally, things aren't so bright for retailers, as consumer spending is at its lowest point in the last five months.
Despite the numbers, it appears there's an exception to the rule at one place in the Twin Cities: the Mall of America.
Hundreds of people were at the Mall of America Friday, some just finishing up their shopping and others pulling out that wish list for the first time this season.
Sales at the MOA are expected to be 5.5 percent higher than last year, and according to some national reports, American's are expected to spend 10 percent more overall, as compared to last year.
Saturday is expected to bring in a larger crowd to the mall than on Black Friday, so if you plan on heading out to shop this weekend, you might want to start early in the day and wear comfortable shoes.
Also, keep parking and traffic in mind and make sure you pack some patience.
