The Timberwolves announced today that the team has released forward Josh Howard after an MRI revealed he has a torn ACL in his right knee. The injury will sideline him for the remainder of the season.
"He worked so hard to get himself back and did a good job for us. We didn't know anything about that until this morning," said head coach Rick Adelman. "It's just a shock and I feel bad for him."
The injury occured in the second quarter of the game in New Orleans and was reportedly a hyperextended knee. Howard was signed as a free agend on November 16 and averaged 6.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 11 games for the Wolves.
The release paves the way for an additional player to be added although Adelman stated they have had primilary discussions no specific names of free agents were mentioned.
