"Prickly Pete"
PHOENIX -
A cat found himself in a prickly situation on Wednesday afternoon.
The Arizona Humane Society says an 1-year-old orange and white domestic cat got himself stuck in a cactus near 19th Avenue and Cactus Road.
The AHS are appropriately calling him "Prickly Pete."
When medical technicians arrived, the cat had freed himself from the cactus but was then found stuck in a fence.
Pete was taken to a animal hospital where AHS vets spend two hours removing cactus pods from the cat's muzzle, eyelids and mouth.
The cat is recovering at Second Chance Animal Hospital and will be on pain medication and antibiotics to prevent infection.
AHS will continue looking for Pete's owner for 72 hours and if Pete is cleared medically, he will go up for adoption.
