SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -- So many of you were touched by little Bradley Moore, Junior even though most of you haven't met him. Our story about the desperate search to find a bone marrow match for him triggered a huge response.
Six-month-old Bradley was seemingly perfectly healthy when he was born, but at his four month check up, doctors discovered an enlarged liver and spleen. It turns out he has a very rare form of leukemia. The only thing that will save him is a bone marrow transplant.
After searching and waiting, a match was made. Now Bradley is scheduled to have the transplant before Christmas.
"Bradley would then remain in the hospital until the new cells have had a chance to home in to the new bone marrow environment and have had enough chance to grow. Typically that whole process involves on the average about a four to six week hospitalization," said Dr. Gregory Yanick with University of Michigan Mott's Children's Hospital.
