RED WING, Minn. (KMSP) -
All schools in Red Wing, Minn. are on partial lockdown Wednesday as police investigate an unconfirmed threat of violence.
Red Wing police received information from a high school senior on Tuesday afternoon that someone called her home phone number and said "your school is next." The caller then hung up.
A separate incident Wednesday morning, which has since been resolved, led to a district-wide lockdown.
At 8:30 a.m. a report was made by First Student bus company that a student found some .22 caliber rounds of ammunition on a bus. Shortly after the lockdown was ordered, a student came forward and reported that the .22 rounds belonged to him and that they were left in his jacket from coyote hunting.
Police determined the bus incident is unrelated to the general threat against the school.
An investigation into the caller's threat is ongoing. The school district is taking the precautionary measure of locking all external doors, while classes proceed as scheduled. Students will be staying indoors throughout the school day.
