Sometimes the holiday season gets a little stressful. So how about taking a break from the rush?
About 85 miles north of Atlanta is Smithgall Woods State Park, near Helen, Georgia. On Saturday, you can join a guided hike on the park's one and a half mile Laurel Ridge Trail.
You'll see Mountain laurel, Evergreen rhododendron and Christmas fern while taking in the fresh mountain air. As an added bonus, you might even burn a calorie or two.
The Smithgall Woods Holiday Stroll is Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Parking is $5 but the guided hike is free.
