Some done with holiday shopping, others just getting started

DEARBORN, Mich. (WJBK) -- It's one week until Christmas Eve.  Have you finished your holiday shopping?  It's not quite last minute yet, but some shoppers are cutting it pretty close.

Just getting started...

Little five-month-old Kennedy Hackett was all smiles for Santa Claus.  Meanwhile, her parents, Kenneth and Elyse, were ready to cross some presents off their lists.

"We're actually just starting," said Kenneth Hackett.

Are they shopping online or sticking to the mall?

"We're doing half and half," said Elyse Hackett.

They still have time, just not a lot.  With Christmas fast approaching, many shoppers still haven't hit the mall.

Fairlane expecting last minute rush

There is no question all of the malls are really competing with online shopping, but at Fairlane they're really expecting a last minute rush.

"They're holding off a little bit and waiting for real deep sales to happen," said Fairlane Town Center General Manager Catherine O'Malley.

Some shoppers already finished

However, we found some shoppers at Fairlane who seem to have avoided the real crowds.

"We just got our boss a few things and we're done," said Elijah Ross.  "My wife was done the other day."

"I went with my mom and we went like a week ago, so it's done with.  Now it's just me left," said Shay Rodgers.

She was shopping for herself and finding some good deals, but it seems there's always someone else to buy for.

"There's always a few things you're always looking for still.  You can always find something more that you can add to your list," said Brenda Nimke.

Like a new dolly for two-year-old Breanne, who planned to see Santa and wanted to wish everyone a "merry Christmas".
