Police say they've tracked down a pick-up truck that is believed to have been used in a brazen robbery at a Fayetteville Walmart store. Investigators released surveillance video of the ambush, which happened inside the store around midnight Thursday.
The surveillance video shows Walmart workers walking with a shopping buggy that contained a wooden lock box with money from the store's cash registers inside. The workers were approached by two gunmen, and one of the women is seen throwing her hands up in the air in an apparent plea not to be hurt.
Cameras also caught the men running out of the store with the shopping cart and money box. The video shows them throwing the cart and all into the back of a Toyota pick-up truck before they sped away. Police say they were in such a hurry to get of the parking lot that the suspects almost hit a couple of shoppers who were entering the store.
Fayetteville police spokesman Mike Whitlow said one of the suspects has on a black hooded Nike sweatshirt, and one was wearing a North Face jacket with a hood. He said both of them were wearing bandannas that they pulled up over their faces once they were in the store.
The pick-up truck was then seen speeding through the Fayette Pavilion Shopping Center. Officers later found it with the empty money box inside. Police say the truck had been stolen from Henry County.
